1. Accepting these terms
These Terms are an agreement between you and Roastish Technologies Pvt. Ltd., 221B, MG Road, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560001, India ("we", "us"), covering the Roastish app and https://roastish.com.
By creating an account or using Roastish you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If the age of digital consent where you live is higher, you must meet that instead. By using Roastish you confirm you meet the requirement and that you are not barred from using it under any applicable law, and that we have not previously removed your account.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Google. Keep that account secure — anything done through your Roastish account is your responsibility.
- One device at a time. Signing in on a new device ends the session on the old one.
- Choose a handle that is not misleading, impersonating, or offensive. We may reclaim handles that are.
- One account per person. Creating a second account to evade a block or a suspension is a breach of these Terms.
4. Your content
You own what you post. We claim no ownership of your photos, captions or roasts.
To operate the service you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and distribute your content within Roastish, and to allow other users to share it through the app's own sharing features. This licence exists so we can show your post to the people you posted it for, and it ends when you delete the content or your account — except for copies already shared by others outside the app, which we cannot recall.
You confirm that you have the right to post what you post: that you took the photo or have permission, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.
Posting a photo of someone else. Do not post identifiable images of other people for them to be roasted without their agreement. That is harassment, and we will remove it.
5. Content rules
Roastish is a roasting app. Mockery, sarcasm, insults and profanity are expected and allowed — that is the product. The line is between a joke about something someone posted and an attack on a person.
Never allowed
- Threats or incitement to violence against anyone.
- Any sexual content involving minors. Reported to the authorities, always.
- Encouraging self-harm or suicide.
- Hate speech — attacks based on race, religion, caste, ethnicity, nationality, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
- Targeted harassment, including coordinated pile-ons.
- Doxxing — posting someone's address, phone number, workplace or other private information.
- Sexual content, nudity, and graphic violence.
- Impersonation of another person or organisation.
- Spam, scams and bulk promotional content.
- Illegal content, or content promoting illegal acts.
- Automated access — scraping, bots, or reverse-engineering the app or API.
6. Anonymity is not immunity
Other users cannot see who wrote a roast. We can. Our systems record which account wrote which roast, and we use that to enforce these Terms and to respond to lawful requests.
If you write something illegal, being anonymous to other users will not keep you anonymous from us, from law enforcement, or from a court.
7. Moderation and enforcement
Before publication. Captions and roasts are checked by an automated moderation system before they go live. Content in the categories in section 5 is refused at that point. Automated checks are imperfect in both directions — some things are wrongly refused, some slip through.
After publication. Depending on severity and history we may remove content, restrict features, suspend an account, or close it permanently. We aim to be proportionate; a bad joke and a threat are not the same thing.
We are not obliged to monitor everything, and we do not pre-screen images the way we screen text.
8. Reporting and takedowns
Every post and roast can be reported from inside the app. One report per person per item.
Automatic removal. When 50 different people report the same item, it is removed automatically and immediately, before any human review. This is a blunt safeguard, and content removed this way can be reinstated on appeal if the removal was wrong.
Urgent safety matters — a threat, a minor at risk — go to safety@roastish.com.
Copyright. If your work has been posted without permission, email legal@roastish.com with the work, the location in the app, your contact details, and a statement that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.
Appeals. If we removed something of yours and you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice or email hello@roastish.com.
9. Our intellectual property
The Roastish name, logo, design and software are ours. These Terms do not give you a licence to use them beyond using the app as intended.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, and — with notice where practical — for legal, safety or operational reasons.
Sections 4 (the licence, to the extent needed for content already shared), 9, and 11 to 14 survive.
11. Disclaimers
Roastish is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we do not endorse or take responsibility for content posted by users. Roasts are written by strangers and are intended to be harsh. If that is not something you want, this app is not for you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Roastish.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months (for a free service, nothing) or INR 1,000.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from content you posted, your use of the service, or your breach of these Terms or of someone else's rights.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers may have the right to bring proceedings in their own country of residence.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms. The date at the top changes, and for material changes we will notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Roastish after that means you accept the new version.
